Kala Sakshama

Kala Sakshama exists because creative expression should never be conditional on physical or cognitive ability. The project creates a conducive cultural environment in which the artistic talents of specially-abled persons — in music, dance, drama and the visual arts — are actively nurtured rather than sidelined.

Through training sessions, community festivals and competitions such as Sphoorti, participants get a real stage: an audience, feedback, and recognition for skill rather than sympathy for circumstance. For many, it is the first time their ability, not their disability, is what the room notices.

The wider goal is integration, not segregation — cultural spaces where specially-abled and able-bodied performers share the same programme, the same judging criteria, and the same applause.
